Resource Guide
Project Access is a comprehensive initiative by Able Americans to map the complex landscape of disability-related programs, policies, and resources across key federal agencies—primarily within the Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Education. By identifying over 3,000 publicly available programs, Project Access provides a searchable, filterable database designed to improve transparency, simplify navigation, and inform better policy for equitable access.
About Project Access
The purpose of Project Access is to evaluate and describe what policies, programs, services, resources, and research is available related to people with disabilities across 9 operational divisions of the Federal Department of Health and Human Services and thereafter to provide policy recommendations for better and equitable access to relevant HHS information.
People with disabilities face a labyrinth of government programs to get aid or healthcare. They often are even dependent on a good caseworker or nonprofit to navigate the system on their behalf. This is not serving those who need services. Through Project Access, Able Americans pulled all of the publicly searchable information about the policies, programs, and resources at the United States Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Education. More than 3,000 programs or policies were identified, and you can search for them here. You can use filters to refine results by disability type, resource category, and federal agency.
